at 1° Cancer / Sun conjunct Moon & North Nodevisible in parts of the South Atlantic, southern Africa, Madagascar, and the Indian Ocean
Solar eclipses always happen at Dark or New Moon
when the alignment of SUN-MOON-EARTH is such
that the Moon comes between Sun & Earth, blocking out the light of the Sun.
This possibility arrives twice a year, but it's not always a total eclipse.
And eclipses are visible only in certain areas of the globe.
Eclipses have, in many cultures, inspired fear and were seen as dire omens. A common image is that of a dragon swallowing the sun or the moon.
These fear-based beliefs are not the case for all peoples, however.The Tahitians saw eclipses as the
lovemaking between Sun & Moon.
Eskimos and other Arctic tribes considered them as Sun and Moon stepping down from their usual places, in order to check on how things were going here on Earth ~ thus a symbol of divine providence.
Cambodians viewed eclipses as variously favorable or unfavorable, depending on different factors.No matter the myth,
eclipses continue to inspire awe and fascination.
Traditional astrological symbolism has, for the most part, considered eclipses as something difficult as well. This limited view tends to linger in our collective unconscious.
It is much more fruitful to consciously
TUNE INTO a new vision
suggested by the meta-physical & holistic movements.
We thus cultivate a more enlightened & evolutive view
of these cosmic & natural cycles.In this global approach, eclipses are not isolated events,
but underline the nodal cycle of the Moon.
It is this cycle which defines the meaning.
Eclipses are thus moments of great importance
in the unfolding of the cyclic Cosmic Plan,
and they affect all of us, whether or not we realize it,
and even if they are not visible from our Earth Location.Note: Eclipses are especially important when they fall on an occupied point in the birthchart. In these cases they usually provoke obvious wake-up calls and major confrontations~ (In this case, 1° Cancer).
In general, eclipses correspond to periods of
intense confrontation with:
* all that hinders our spiritual evolution
* all that keeps us in a rut, comfortable though it may be
* Shadow (aspects of ourselves that we deny).
Eclipses are thus perfect occasions to become aware of
these blocks & unconscious patterns,
to deal more clearly with and integrate these aspects.
We arrive at a moment in the cycle
which is favorable to the process of Co-Creation:
the opportunity to use Past and Present
in order to build a Future
on a more liberated & creative base,
& more attuned to our Spiritual potential
And this is, after all, a New Moon.
A time of receptivity, of going within.
A seeding period, par excellence.
The start of this new lunar cycle corresponds this year
with the start of the summer season.
WHAT WE PLANT NOW
carries great power & energy into the future.
Thus it is important to remain AWARE and consciously align with Light & Evolution.
Manifestation comes at Full Moon (July 6).
Here are ways of exploring the Eclipse symbolism:
For example, astronomically:
the Sun is eclipsed by the Moon,
which comes between Earth and the light of the Sun.
If Moon represents the Cancer symbolic (see above),
and Earth represents our grounded reality, nature & body,
and Sun is our ideal, spiritual light, hope and vision...
What does this suggest to you?In the case of a north node solar eclipse,
the Moon is considered the positive factor;
Sun is now obscured.
The Past (& lunar factors in our life)
eclipses or erases
the Present (& solar factors in our life).
So the Moon (Cancer symbolism) dominates the awareness ~
There may be a "Return" in general:
to Source, Foundation, Roots, Tribe;
to a more feminine, lunar, cyclic reality & way of being.
We may be called upon to integrate new lunar values,
or lunar qualities of adaptation.
But beware of emotional crises and the compulsive habits of the personality and limited personal responses.
We may have difficulty liberating from Shadow, the past
or have problems adapting to new circumstances.
The challenge, though, is precisely that:
Create or adapt to a new base of experience.
Change the quality of our relations to others and to our environment.
Because the Sun is eclipsed,
pay attention to any "Obscuring" of your Light.
ex: loss of vision, ideals, faith, confidence, of center.
Meditate on your Inner Sun and
fundamental solar qualities which are Invincible.
Keep your Love Light burning.
Stay in resonance with Divine Light.
Running into Shadow and Polarity may be challenging,
but it doesn't necessarily mean catastrophe
if we cultivate Quality awareness=>
Detachment, equinamity, unity and paying attention
to our acts, words & inner states.****************************
and last, but not least, let's not forget
the incredible RUSH of AIR energy
leading up to this turn of the season.Sun just left Gemini and Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune are all in air signs
with notably a beaut trine between Jupiter and Uranus.
Talk about rush, buzz and progress.
